About… mobiles and funerals

I should stop reading Harald Martensteins column, it brings so many weird questions to me.

Like his latest piece on funeral regulations in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. They think about getting rid of the obligation to bury the deceased in a coffin at least for muslims, because it is important for religious muslims to bury their dead wrapped in sheets, not in a wooden box. But that is not the point.

The point is that in the comments someone mentioned that people who are scared of being buried alive wish to be buried with a mobile, so they can call for help in fact… you know.

What instantly crossed my mind was, do you have mobile reception 2 meter below ground?

  1. What if someone wakes up in the grave, what if they have a cellphone, what if they can even remember how to use one – it’s dark down there! They’d need a flashlight, too. And like you said, there’s the question about reception….:-)
